July writing workshops

The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo offers two writing workshops with Frances Kai-Hwa Wang. Both will be held in UH Hilo’s UCB Room 103. Each workshop costs $60.

Finding Your Voice will be held on Tuesdays, July 5-26, from 5 -7:30 pm. This class is intended to help aspiring writers to find their voice and have enough trust to share their writing with the world. Short writing exercises, tips and tricks will be covered.

Dare to Dream will be held on Thursdays, July 7-28, from 5-7:30 pm. Participants will learn simple but powerful methods to get ideas out of their head and onto the page in order to write their way through big changes in their lives. Part journaling, part business plan, and lots of short writing exercises, this course aspires to create the space to help participants move forward with their ideas.

Wang is a writer, speaker, activist and multicultural educator who teaches at the University of Michigan. She is the author of “Where Lava Meets the Sea—Asian Pacific American Postcards from Hawaii.”
