The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo offers Brazilian Zouk dance workshops on July 9 and August 13. Both sessions are for all levels of dancers and will be held in the UH Hilo Old Gym from 2-5 pm. Cost is $25 for each, or $40 for both.
Zouk is a fun, flowy and sensuous Brazilian couple dance that is quickly gaining in popularity around the world. The “Onolicious Brazilian Zouk: Mixed Plate” workshops will guide students through learning short combinations that serve as the “main course.” New moves are added that can be thrown in as “pupus” or “dessert.” Students will walk away with a complete combination that can be easily deconstructed and reconstructed.
Instructor Marie Alonzo Snyder holds a BFA and MFA in Dance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, as well as a Doctorate in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She recently released a book, The Art and Sensuality of Brazilian Zouk Dancing.
