Kiana Davis has been awarded a Gertrude E. McVickar Study Abroad Scholarship for her participation in the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo study abroad program. A transfer student from Hawaiʻi Community College, Davis will spend the academic year at Kyoto Sangyo University in Japan where she will take Japanese language classes and courses to fulfill her Linguistics major.
The McVickar Endowed Excellence Scholarship was created in memory of Gertrude E. McVickar who believed that all students should be encouraged to participate in international exchange programs. Students interested in applying must be a full-time student at UH Hilo, have a minimum 3.5 GPA, and have at least 24 completed credits from UH Hilo.
