The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo offers Art for Everyone: Mixed Media on Saturdays, June 18 to August 6, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in UH Hilo’s UCB Room 312. Cost is $125 and includes most supplies.

Participants will learn to explore composition and texture in the form of collage with the support and guidance of instructor Darcy Gray. As the session progresses, students will build confidence in translating their ideas into finished abstract works of art using paint, paper, photos and everyday objects. Students will need to provide some common and low cost items, such as scissors, glue, papers, photos and found items, which will be discussed at the first session. Class is open to all levels, ages 13 and up. Younger students may enroll with the accompaniment of a registered adult.

Gray received her B.A. in Three-Dimensional Design from Birmingham City University in England. She recently moved to Hawaiʻi Island from Santa Fe, NM, where she worked as an independent artist, taught private lessons and volunteered teaching seniors.

For more information and to register, call CCECS at 932-7830 or visit http://hilo.hawaii.edu/ccecs/.
