The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is offering two agricultural workshops with ecologist, horticulturist and land planner Zach Mermel. Both sessions will be held at the UH Hilo Agriculture Farm. Tuition for each workshop is $35.
Plant Propagation FUNdamentals will cover the basics of plant propagation, including varietal selection, propagation tools, rooting-out environment, and other methods for rapidly expanding the plant biodiversity for gardens, homesteads, or farms. Class will be held on Thursday, June 16, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Pruning Demystified is a hands-on workshop that will cover proper pruning techniques for a wide range of tropical and subtropical trees to improve their overall health. Acquired skills will also be applicable for pruning fruit trees and shrubs. Participants should come dressed for fieldwork and bring hand pruning shears along with a small pruning saw to class, which will be held on Thursday, June 23, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
