The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet returns to the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Performing Arts Center Tuesday, January 21, at 7:30 p.m. The performance is jointly presented by the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center and the Hawaiʻi Concert Society.

The Aspen Ballet and the Santa Fe Festival Ballet merged more than two decades ago, and has been likened to the long-established Joffrey Ballet.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet has two directors, Jean-Philippe Malaty and Tom Mossbrucker. Malaty, who grew up in the Basque part of France, studied in some of Europe’s most prestigious dance schools. He has been recognized by the U.S. government as an artist of extraordinary abilities.

Mossbrucker, who started tap dancing at age four, danced with Joffrey Ballet for many years, performing principal roles in over 70 ballets. He appeared in numerous television specials and was featured in the Joffrey’s “Billboards,” a full-length rock ballet set to music by Prince.

Tickets are priced at $35 General, $25 Seniors, and $15 Students with valid ID, and are available at the UH Hilo Box Office or via the Performing Arts Center website, artscenter.uhh.hawaii.edu. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $5 more.
