UH Hilo offers woodblock printing workshop

The Center for Community Engagement at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo offers a woodblock printing workshop with local artist Glenn Yamanoha.

In Art for Everyone: Japanese Woodblock Printing, participants will learn traditional Japanese woodblock printing methods and techniques, including preparation of washi paper, image transfer, and cutting blocks as well as some history and vocabulary. Classes are held Saturdays, February 16 and March 2, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., in PB-5. Cost is $125, which includes materials.

Yamanoha is an established painter and printmaker who lives in Volcano. He has a BFA in painting from the University of Washington, studied graphic design at Seattle Art Institute, and has many years of experience teaching design, drawing and painting on the college level.
