The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo invites the public to attend a screening of the documentary “Their Dreams Endure: Veins of Resistance in Chile” by Joshua Tucker, an American journalist and filmmaker living in Chile, on Friday, March 9, from 3 - 6 pm in UCB Room 100. A Q & A session with Tucker follows the screening.
The documentary examines three distinct Chilean social movements and their efforts to bring about change through free quality education for all, sovereignty for the indigenous Mapuche people, and urban land occupations where people struggle for dignified housing. The film trailer is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIJt_I61Ix8.
The event is sponsored by the Chancellor’s Professional Development Fund and organized by the Departments of Political Science and Administration of Justice along with the Office of International Student Services and Intercultural Education.
