The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Performing Arts Center opens its 2013-2014 season on Thursday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. with Broadway’s Next H!T Musical.
“Every song is fresh. Every scene is new. Every night is different. It’s all improvised and it’s all funny,” said PAC Manager Lee Dombroski.
Broadway’s Next H!T Musical is the only unscripted theatrical awards show. Six master improvisers gather made up, hit song suggestions from the audience and create a spontaneous evening of music, humor, and laughter. The audience votes for their favorite song and watches as the cast turns it into a full-blown improvised musical - complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists galore.
The show is under the direction of Rob Schiffman, a professional improviser and musician, and Deb Rabbai, an actor, improviser, singer and voiceover artist. This show has consistently been hailed as “brilliant” by TheaterWeek magazine.
“Don’t miss the next great American musical – it’s coming to Hilo – and the audience is writing it,” Dombroski said.
