The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo offers a non-credit screenwriting course to guide participants through the steps of completing a first draft of their own script. Classes will be held on Thursdays, February 2 through April 13, from 5 – 7 p.m., in UH Hilo’s University Classroom Building Room 103 with no class on March 30. The cost is $110.

Introduction to Screenwriting will teach students the basic rules of storytelling as well as the formatting and craft of screenwriting. The course will also focus on writing dialogue, building story structure, and developing memorable characters for a variety of media and genres in addition to writing loglines, treatments, and outlines.

Instructor Adam Sydney holds master’s degrees in screenwriting from the University of London and The American Film Institute, and has worked with writers in and out of Hollywood for more than 20 years.

For more information and to register, contact CCECS at 932-7830 or visit http://hilo.hawaii.edu/ccecs/.
