A junior linguistics major at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is the recipient of the Audrey S. Furukawa Study Abroad Scholarship.
Anayah Doi, who was home schooled in Hilo, is currently attending Hokkaido University in Japan. She hopes to teach English or conduct research on second-language acquisition in Japan.
“It's inspiring to know my community is supportive of my dreams and wants to help me make them a reality,” Doi said upon receiving the scholarship.
The ASF Study Abroad Scholarship was created to provide UH Hilo students with the opportunity to study abroad. Some of the scholarship requirements include being a full-time student at UH Hilo, having a minimum 3.2 GPA, and having 24 UH Hilo credits at the time of departure.
