The public is invited to attend a free workshop on developing conflict resolution skills as part of the “Let’s Work it Out” workshop series offered by the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo on Friday, October 14, from 4:45-7 p.m. in UH Hilo’s Campus Center Room 301.

At the Less Talk, More Listen: Conflict Resolution workshop, participants will learn powerful and effective active listening techniques to become a better communicator at home, at school, in the workplace, and in the community by learning practical tools, including summarizing for understanding and asking appropriate questions, and historic conflict resolution practices used in various cultures. Workshop leaders and facilitators include Julie Mitchell, executive director of the Ku’ikahi Mediation Center, and Tim Hansen, restorative justice program manager with the Hawaiʻi County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

To register for the workshop, go to http://go.hawaii.edu/jOp. For more information, contact Dr. Su-Mi Lee at sumliee@hawaii.edu.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Ku`ikahi Mediation Center, Hawaiʻi County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Rotary Club of Hilo, the UH Hilo Political Science Department, and the UH Hilo International Student Services & Intercultural Education program.
