Tickets are currently on sale for the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Performing Arts Department’s dance concert, Great Leaps, scheduled for Saturday, December 5 at 7:30 pm in the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center. Due to increased popularity, a Preview Show will be held on Friday, December 4 at 7:30 pm at a discounted ticket price.
“This semester’s Ballet classes will dance to the beautiful Spanish Concerto de Aranjuez by Drigo, hip-hop dance styles will energize the stage with the Jazz class and guest performance by the INT Dance Squad, Hawaiʻi Community College’s Aerial Dance classes will fly through the air in mesmerizing skills of beauty and control, and the Modern Dance and the new edition of Environmental Dance taught by Annie Bunker will bring surprises to the stage and outside of the PAC,” noted PAC Manager Lee Dombroski.
There will also be an innovative Senior Project by Kawai Soares that will explore his Hawaiian heritage and his passion for dance. Guest choreographers for the Dance Ensemble, Lawrence Mano and Scott Wuscher, will provide a range of concepts that will showcase dancing Ninjas and expressions of losing a loved one.
Ticket price for the Special Preview is $3 for all seats. Ticket prices for December 5 are $7 General, $5 Discount, UH Hilo/HawCC students (with a valid student ID) and children, up to age 17.
