The public is invited to the opening of a new exhibit, “Na Paniolo o Hamakua,” at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo North Hawaiʻi Education and Research Center’s Heritage Center on Tuesday, March 31 at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
“Na Paniolo o Hamakua” showcases the rich legacy of ranching along the Hamakua Coast. Along with artifacts and vintage photographs from the “good old days of ranching,” the exhibit will also feature colorful photographs of the new generation of paniolo, the great-great-grandchildren of those who founded the early ranches, which have been passed down from generation to generation.
The exhibit is open Monday through Friday, 8 – 4 p.m, and Saturdays, 9-1 p.m. The Center is located at 45-539 Plumeria Street in Honoka`a.
