The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is accepting registration for a series of 15 classes in conversational Japanese for students who are new to the Japanese language. Classes will be held Wednesday evenings from 5-6:30 p.m., January 14-April 29 at 891 Ululani Street, Room 116, in Hilo. The cost is $150.
Conversational Japanese: Beginners will teach participants how to greet, introduce themselves, and ask and answer questions. They will also study the Japanese writing system, including Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji (Chinese characters), along with Japanese culture to gain a better understanding of the language.
Classes will be conducted by UH Hilo lecturer Hiroko Igarashi, who has taught Japanese to children and adults in the community, using a practical, fun and interactive approach that helps students get the most out of every session.
