The public is invited to attend a documentary screening, “The Words of Wisdom from the Rainbow State,” Friday, April 29, at 6:30 pm in the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo UCB Room 100. A reception starts at 6 pm. The film trailer is available at https://www.therainbowwords.com/. The film is directed by Jinyoung Lee Won, an editor of Hana Hou! Korean edition and content creator for Hawaiʻi Tourism Korea.
The film explores the history of the Korean immigration to Hawaiʻi, featuring five direct descendants of the first generation of Korean immigrants, including former Hawaiʻi County Mayor Harry Kim and former Chief Justice of the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court Ronald Moon.
The event is sponsored by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Honolulu in collaboration with the Big Island Korean Club, and UH Hilo’s Department of Political Science and Administration of Justice.
